An explosion occurred in a garment factory in Fatulla of Narayanganj. 14 workers of the factory were burnt. The explosion took place in the factory called Kroni Apparels Limited in Hatkhola area of Kashipur Union in Fatulla on Thursday (February 8) afternoon.
The victims are Mehedi Hasan, Zakir Hossain, Md. Kamrul, Md. Mahbub, Md. Shafiq, Md. Monir (28), Md. Samchu Mia, Md. Ripon, Md. Rubel Mia, Jitu, Palash Kanti, Md. Mukul, Mukul and Mithun.
Thirteen of the burn victims were admitted to the Sheikh Hasina National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute in Dhaka in the afternoon, said the hospital's resident surgeon Dr. Tariqul Islam
He said that 13 burnt people have been admitted to Sheikh Hasina National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute. 13 of them are safe. However, we admitted one to the burn unit for observation. His name is Jitu. 30 percent of it was burnt.
A welding engineer named Kamrul Hasan said that some of them were welding by using cylinder gas inside the gate of the factory. Then the gas pipe of the cylinder burst and suddenly caught fire. After some time the fire was extinguished again. At that time, some of the workers of the factory were slightly burnt.
Audit officer of the factory. Sabbir Hossain said that immediately after the incident, the burn victims were brought to the burn institute. Everyone works in different sections of the factory.
